Back on Track!

Hi city peeps! We've missed you this summer! Sorry for being MIA for most of it (2 months off, holy smokes! where did the time go?), but we hope you had a great one :)

I have a confession to make. This past month, I completely fell off the bandwagon. No scheduled workouts, no fitness classes, and thus, no blog posts...and I don't feel guilty. Not one bit!

Between vacation, eating out all the time, and galavanting this summer, there's been very little time left for working out. Oh who am I kidding, I've just been lazy about it. It's summer, c'est la vie.

What I can say is, even though I haven't kept up with my usual structured workouts, I find myself gravitate towards active things to do while on vacation. Here are some tips from our previous posts on how to keep fit while on vacation (in Vegas and on a winter getaway). On my latest adventure to Hawaii, I found myself walking everywhere, swimming almost everyday, jogging along the beach, and of course hiking!

Viva Las Vegas!

Hey ladies & gents! How's it going?

It's been a while since our last post so I wanted to fill you in on what CCF has been up to lately. I was fortunate enough to spend the Victoria Day long weekend in Vegas. 5 days, 4 nights and one really awesome girlfriend could only equal one thing, a great vacation! If you haven't been I highly recommend it....just be prepared to be blown away! I spent my days soaking up the rays by the pool, laughing with friends, meeting great people, shopping, dancing and seeing artists perform live - Missy Elliot, PSY, Calvin Harris & Kaskade. Vegas never sleeps and neither did I! There is always something to do and some nights I had to force myself to sleep (perhaps some truth behind the popular myth that casinos pump oxygen to keep you awake??).

"Help! I'm bored with my workouts"

Hey guys, hope your day is going well :)

If you're reading this post, then we're most likely in the same boat. You've reached a point in your exercise life where everything is becoming routine (dare I say boring?), what's worked before isn't working anymore, and in general, you've lost a great deal of enthusiasm for working out. I feel ya.

Not to worry, we all get stuck in a rut once in awhile. It's normal! Life gets in the way sometimes and there are just other things we'd rather be doing. Don't beat yourself up over it - the important thing is if you've fallen off the bandwagon, just get your ass back on it!

Doing the same routine over & over may make you feel like you did jack squat

Stop Sabotaging My Fitness Goals!

Happy Thursday city peeps! We are more than halfway through the week, hooray! I hope everyone stays focused and strong until TGIF, beastmode style!

This post is inspired by my recent experience with people that sabotage instead of support my healthy lifestyle. At first, I didn't realize what was happening; I was skipping workouts and having cheat meals more than once a week. I wasn't meeting my fitness goals and it didn't feel right. What was happening? It wasn't like me at all. I started to take notice and realized I was being sabotaged! The saboteur turned out to be a master manipulator - it wasn't their first time - and loved to prey on my vulnerability. They knew I was tired after a long day of work and that I was having a sugar craving. Pure evil! I didn't stand a chance. In retrospect, it's easy to see how I succumbed to the negative pull of peer pressure. In a moment of weakness, my healthy efforts were seriously derailed.

Motivation Mondays: What Gets You Outta Bed?

Rise n' shine city peeps! It's Motivation Monday! Time to kick-start your workouts and make healthy choices that will keep your goals in check all week!

Today's post is inspired by an article I read recently [read it here] about exercise and motivation. The question was "What got you out of bed for your workout this morning?" This struck a chord with me - what was motivating me to workout? Now, I don't workout in the morning but I do find time to exercise after a long day of work, on weekends, I try new classes and sports, and attempt new fitness crazes - tabata, plyometrics, bootcamp and HIIT. Recently, I started Insanity and OMG is it ever hard! Each workout is exactly that - insane! Usually, I find time to workout late at night when others are winding down and settling into bed. So, what gives?

OD'ing on Spinach

Hi guys, Happy Weekend! How are you keeping active today?

Today's post is on how important nutrition is. What you put into your body will definitely affect how well it performs. It's common sense, but sometimes we don't really stop to think about it.

Over the past few weeks, I've been bad with keeping up with my clean-eating. In between Lunar New Year celebrations (fried goodness galore), eating out, work parties (cake for breakfast!), Valentine's Day chocolates, & just being surrounded by goodies everywhere I go - really doesn't help the situation. Lack of self-control while being on temptation island also doesn't help.

*Side note: V is really good at resisting temptation island, especially at work parties. Me on the other hand, I will have a little bit of everything. And don't get me started on sweets, I have the biggest sweet tooth ever known to mankind. Plus I love to eat! Who doesn't?

Motivation Mondays: Resolution Check-In

Source
Hi friends! Happy Motivation Monday! Let's start the week strong and inspired by reviewing our accomplishments thus far and goals for ourselves. It wasn't too long ago we all made New Years resolutions to cut sugar from our diets, eat more greens and exercise AT LEAST 4 times a week. How are your resolutions coming along? I know it's easy to fall off the wagon but let's not forget to get back on!

For those of you that have abandoned your resolutions and vow to do it right next year, you're not alone! According to a 3 year study conducted by Gold's Gym, February 7th has been dubbed as the 'fitness cliff' -  the day most resolutions are ditched and unhealthy habits are embraced with familiarity and comfort [source]. Most people give up on resolutions for one reason or another. Let's face it, change is hard! But with the right amount of work and effort success can be yours!

The 'Love Yourself' Challenge

Are you up for a challenge? It's February and love is in the air! Love yourself this month, we dare you. 'Hah, you call this a challenge??', you say? Easier said than done, my friends. What did you do today that wasn't for your boss, a family member, client, or friend? Probably nothing. But the good news is, you're reading this post and you're already one step closer to loving yourself!

*Side Note: Before I get into the challenge, what are your thoughts on Valentine's Day? So many people are against this 'commercial holiday' that it's actually kind of ironic because it turns the day of love into a day of hate. It's just a special day in the year that serves to remind us to appreciate the people in our lives. So be happy on this day doing whatever it is that you enjoy, either spending it solo, with your friends, family, SOs, whoever your loved ones may be. Don't forget to love yourself this Vday by doing something special just for you
