About V&L

V & L do Hawaii 2012

I spend my days working as a 21st-century librarian, social networking, looking for new recipes to make my veggies & protein more interesting, reading, blogging, discussing new health & fitness nutrition trends with V, and of course, keeping active. My regular routine consists of jogging, pilates, strength-training, and yoga, but I'm always trying out new things! The very first fitness program I ever tried was Turbo Jam (remember those days?) and have been hooked on fitness ever since. Things I want to get better at: volleyball, surfing, and snowboarding. If you can't find me at the beach..you'll find me at the gym, or at the library ;)

I'm a real-life librarian & coffee lover. I'm also a wannabe storm chaser -- I love learning about climate change and the weather. Things that make me happy: the beach, tanning, running marathons, leading my book club, creative writing, experimenting with new recipes, and music. Music is my life & I will be sharing my fave workout tunes with you :)

We're not health or fitness professionals, but we love to research (it's an occupational habit) and are always learning as much as we can about fitness & nutrition.

Since January 14 2012, we decided out of the blue that we were going to start a strict fitness regime and  eat clean (which we dubbed eating like birds). At the time, we didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into, and how hard it would be to make the transition...but it's been a year since then, and we're not looking back. We're pickier when it comes to food not only because we've come to truly value nutrition but we've also noticed a difference in how it affects our performance & energy levels. We've done pilates, yoga, HIIT routines, joined a volleyball clinic, became runners, on top of hitting the gym on a regular in the past year. Next on our list for 2013: muay thai, bootcamp, and marathons...stay tuned :)

Torontonians spend about 5 months out of the year living through brutal Canadian winters, but we are also blessed with beautiful summers a few months out of the year (which we wait impatiently for). How can we be active all-year round without going into hibernation mode half the time? What do we have access to, besides expensive gym memberships? and how do we stay focused? Well...that's what we'll be writing and sharing with you: tips, tricks, our thoughts and everything in between. If you're a city chick, we want to hear from you too!
